Anonymous asked: Do you think Castle has lost its 'magic' ? I mean, the show is losing audience for a reason, right ? Today, 2 people said to me they've quit watching it because it's getting too long to solve both the shipper and the main plot. Do you think we are waiting so much for something that may not be fulfilled the way we all expect and that was promised by the creator ? I'm getting kind of tired and I l-o-v-e the show, which makes me so sad to confess. XoXo.
I think Castle still has all of its magic. No loss, at least on my end.
I wouldn’t consider it ‘losing its audience’ just yet. It’s not at the bottom of the ratings, and it’s still going strong. ABC hasn’t been promoting the show particularly well this year, and I think THAT has had a large impact on viewership. Ratings and numbers fluctuate for every show.
Also, Smash JUST premiered on NBC. It’s hard to compete with something that has that much cross-genre pull. Castle’s bound to lose some viewers to a newer, shinier show. But I wouldn’t worry; they’re not really going for the same viewers.
There are certainly people who jump ship because they can’t deal with the will-they/won’t-they. However, Luke and Lorelai took five season to get it together. 12 seasons of SVU came and went without Olivia and Elliot ever getting together. The X-files, well, I mean, come on!
Will-they/won’t-they television is what sells. And people get frustrated with it, of course. That’s the point.
I think we’ll definitely get our payoff. We just have to wait a little longer. Personally, I have no problems waiting, because I’m enjoying the show as a show, admiring all parts of it, and sitting back when it comes to Caskett. Marlowe has said (SPOILERS) that they won’t get together before their secrets come out, and Castle’s secret is slated to come out at the end of the season. So I know there’s a wait ahead of us. But I have faith in the writers.
If you watch the show just for Castle and Beckett, and expect big movement every episode, I’m sure you’ll be disappointed in the rest of the season. There will be episodes where they don’t progress, but there will also be those where they do. I completely understand where you’re coming from. It is frustrating, I agree.
I don’t personally think that the frustration takes away the magic, but that’s my opinion. You are more than entitled and justified to have your own. :)

Castle’s down in the demo advertisers care about: 18-49. Part was because Superbowl & Smash, which is dying quickly. Soon Castle will be ok, #2 in demo behind H50. SVU & X-Files are 2 shows we don’t want Castle imitating. The ships were almost jokes.
