Anonymous asked: In 2x14 "The Third Man" Beckett says to Lanie: "I have no life." Do you sometimes feel as if you have no life and why? What does 'life' mean to you?

I do sometimes feel that way. I’m a relatively quiet person. I don’t like to party, don’t enjoy the college scene in small rooms with pong tables, so I spend most of my weekends at home, writing.

However, as I’m a writer, I don’t consider not partying equivalent with not having a life. I like being productive, and I make sure to go out to dinner with friends, see people, get out of the house. However, to a normal college student, I’m sure it doesn’t look like I have a ‘life.’

A life, to me, is an existence with which you are happy and fulfilled. If that’s getting drunk every weekend, great. If it means that I spend more time writing than I do being social, I’m fine with that. I think you need friends, and family, even if it’s not blood related, but otherwise, just be happy, productive, and worthwhile. That’s all you need.
